inspect the new track and then allow train operations. The 79km long doubling work between Indore-Dewas-Ujjain is in its final stage. The final stage involved doubling between Barlai and Indore. The railway tracks have already been laid. To complete the remaining work, the railway has taken a block from December 15th to 30th. All the work on the 27km long new line between Barlai and Indore needs to be completed within 16 days. Since the block started on Friday, railway officials have been working at a fast pace. Several trains have been affected due to the block. Some trains have been cancelled, and some are being operated via the Fatehabad route. The Indore-Bilaspur-Indore Express, which departs from Indore, will be operated from Ujjain. The Kota-Indore-Kota train will be operated from Maksi. A dozen trains will operate via the Fatehabad route. After the completion of the work, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) will inspect the newly laid track between Indore and Barlai. Once the CRS approves the track, train operations will begin on the new route. After the completion of the doubling work, trains will no longer need to cross each other.

Considering the concerns, the Ratlam Division reinstated the DEMU train for the Mhow to Indore route, while it remains canceled between Indore and Ratlam. The DEMU train, departing Mhow at 8:55 AM and reaching Indore at 9:35 AM, carries thousands of passengers daily for work purposes. The Mhow Rail Passengers Association had protested at the Indore Railway Station, submitting a memorandum to the General Manager of Western Railway and the Divisional Railway Manager of Ratlam. The association highlighted the difficulties faced by passengers due to the cancellation of the train, especially those commuting from Mhow to Indore for work, as the train provides the most convenient service for them.

Several other trains including the 12919 Mahu-Indore-Shrimaata Vaishnodevi Katra Express, 12920 Shrimaata Vaishnodevi Katra-Indore-Mahu Express, 19343 Chhindwara-Indore Express, 19344 Indore-Sिवनी Express, 19313 Indore-Patna Express, 19314 Patna-Indore Express, 19321 Indore-Patna Express, 19322 Patna-Indore Express, and 19308 Chandigarh-Indore Express will be diverted or short-terminated during the mega block period. Additionally, the North Railway's mega block in the Lucknow division from December 16th to January 13th will affect the Indore-Patna Express which will be diverted via Lucknow-Sultanpur-Jafrabad. This will cause inconvenience for more than 7000 daily commuters who will need to find alternate travel arrangements.
