The overcrowding was particularly severe on the Utkal Express, which saw passengers exceeding the capacity of reserved coaches and difficulty in boarding the general coaches. The Utkal Express arriving from Agra was also delayed for 10 minutes after a chain-pulling incident near Birla Nagar Outer.
