The first corridor, stretching 14 kilometers from Taj East Gate to Sikandra, is under construction with 13 stations (6 elevated, 7 underground). The second corridor, spanning 16 kilometers between Agra Cantt and Kalindi Vihar, will feature 14 elevated stations. L&T, the construction company, commenced work in October 2024. Soil samples were initially collected from Agra Cantt and Sadar Bazar stations on MG Road for analysis to initiate pillar piling. Further testing will be conducted at Pratap Pura, Collectorate, Agra College, Hari Parvat, Sanjay Place, and MG Road stations on MG Road. Subsequently, the company will conduct a utility survey to identify and shift electricity, water, and sewer lines. Barricading for the metro has commenced in the cantonment area. The first corridor, from Taj East Gate to Manakameshwar Temple, is operational, carrying around 12,000 passengers daily. The four underground stations – SN Medical College, Agra College, Raja ki Mandi, and RBS – are complete, and tunnel construction is ongoing. The final three elevated stations – ISBT, Guru Dwara Guru Ka Tal, and Sikandra – are awaiting final NOC from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which is advocating for a double-decker viaduct at Sikandra.
