This will ease congestion at the junction and provide better access to express and passenger trains for the people of Sonbhadra. Despite being the second largest industrial district in the state after Noida, Sonbhadra lacks proper passenger train facilities. The doubling of the Chunar-Chopan line, approved in October 2023 with an allocation of 1562 crore rupees, will require the construction of several bridges and culverts. The new bridge over the Son river in Chopan is the most significant of these projects. The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will inaugurate the doubling project on Monday, February 25th, 2024, at a ceremony in New Delhi. This inauguration will also include the laying of the foundation stone for various development projects at Sonbhadra, Chopan, and Renukut railway stations.
