Hello everyone,

Posting here on IRI after a long time—hope you're all doing well!

I recently traveled on the 20822 Santragachi Humsafar Express, from Santragachi Junction to Panvel Junction, and wanted to share
...
my review.

Date of Journey: 12/10/2024
Loco: Tata WAP7 39109 powered the train.

Punctuality:

Absolutely horrendous, and I mean it! The train is often rescheduled from the source, typically running 4 to 6 hours late. By the time it reaches Panvel, delays can range from 8 to 10 hours, sometimes even stretching to 15 hours, thanks to SER’s prioritization of freight trains.
Luckily, my journey was on time at departure (6 PM from Santragachi), but we reached Panvel on Monday around 2 AM—2 hours late, dated 14/10/2024. We even got overtaken by the 11040 Maharashtra Express at Bhusaval Junction!

For Mumbaikars, I would suggest using this train as a last resort, especially since Santragachi is not easily accessible, and public transportation is limited. Trains like Geetanjali Express or Jnaneswari Express are much better options.

Cleanliness:
There’s OBHS staff dedicated to cleaning every 3-4 hours, but honestly, the coaches were quite dirty, indicating poor primary maintenance by SRC CDO.

Food:
I ordered my meals online—lunch from Nagpur and dinner from Bhusaval—so I can't comment on the pantry car food. However, fellow passengers mentioned that the quality wasn’t great.

Railfanning:
There wasn’t much to see, but if the train is delayed by an hour or so, the Bilaspur-Nagpur Vande Bharat Express overtakes it just before Nagpur. I was fortunate to witness this during my trip.

Ticket Availability:
Except during Durga Puja or other festivals, tickets are usually easy to get. However, given the train's poor punctuality, I recommend considering alternative options for this route.

Safety:
Be mindful of your luggage, as there were no RPF patrols during the night.

Feel free to correct me on any points, and I welcome your comments!

Here are some snaps I took during the journey.

Cheers!

Not just railway board and politicians...even railfans also neglects SEEMANCHAL area of bihar in their timeline🥲🥲🥲For them bihar is all about PATNA,BGP,SHC,MFP,GAYA.....Bt they don't consider KIR,KNE,PRNA as a part of bihar....why this hypocrisy?

Bandhu tumhare hisab se dekha jaye to Ara-Mundeshwari section me itne passangers hain ki nayi line banni awashyak hai. Ara-Sasaram section ki doubling awashyak hai.

Lekin Bihar ke dusre hisse me 'less passanger catering' ka tark de rahe ho. PM mahoday isi samay ke liye bol ke gaye the, hypocrisy ki bhi seema hoti hai mitron.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
